Eleven Years Ago, on a cold fall morning, September 11, 2001, international terrorists staged a series of attacks that claimed the lives of 2974 people in rural Pennsylvania, at the Pentagon, and in New York City.  Americans were outraged and shocked as terrorists took over commerical airliners at flew them into the Word Trade Center and the Pentagon.  Terrorists attempted to take over another commericial airliner however brave passengers fought the terrorists until the plane crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania.  It is believed that the terrorists had intended to crash that airliner into the White House.  Americans will always remember the 2974 innocent people who died, and the Fire, Police, and EMS Professionals that responded. 411 emergency service workers died and hundreds of others have long term negative health effects from that day. For them it was just another day at work, another call to respond to.

The thousands of tons of toxic debris resulting from the collapse of the Twin Towers consisted of more than 2,500 contaminants, including known carcinogens. This has led to debilitating long term illnesses among rescue and recovery workers, which many claim to be directly linked to debris exposure.

  

71,000 people are listed on the 9-11 Emergency Worker Health Registry - EMS Professionals, firefighters, police officers, construction workers, volunteers and even clergy who worked at Ground Zero on 9/11 and the days following the attack.  Of those, approximately 12% of Fire/EMS workers still are affected by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
