It is ILLEGAL for your Employer To:

  • Terminate You For Union Activity or Support                 
  • Deny You Benefits Because Of Union Activity or Support
  •  Attempt to Bribe You To Stop Your Union Support or Activity
  •  Discipline You For Your Union Activity or Support


It is ILLEGAL for your Employer to say:
  • “If you bring a union in here, everyone gets a pay cut.
  • “If you become union I will close the business.”
  • “If you vote for the union, I will fire anyone who votes YES”
 

What else you should know…

·      Under Federal Law, employees have the right to form, join, support or assist unions who may bargain collectively with the employer on the employees’ behalf seeking to better their wages or working conditions. This is typically called a collective bargaining agreement or contract.

 

Under Federal Law your employer cannot discipline you for:

  •   Forming, or attempting to form, a union.
  • Joining a union whether the union is recognized by your employer or not.
  •  Assisting a union in organizing your fellow employees.
  • Engaging in protected activities. Generally, "protected activity" is a union activity that seeks to better wages or working conditions.
  • Refusing to do any or all of these things.
 

Your Employer is restricted under the law from:

  • Interfering with, restraining, or coercing employees in the exercise of rights relating to organizing, forming, joining or assisting a labor organization for collective bargaining purposes, or engaging in protected activities, or refraining from any such activity.
