NEMSA Doesn't "Play" Politics With Members Dues Money!

NEMSA Has No Interest In Paying Politicians As They Continue To Ignore EMS Related Issues

Corrupt Politician Taking Members Dues Money?  Not with NEMSA!

Every day, millions of union members have money taken from their paychecks to support a political agenda. In 1996, Rutgers economics professor Leo Troy estimated that union political expenditures totaled about $500 million in each election cycle. More recently, the National Institute for Labor Relations Research estimated that total union political expenditures reached $925 million in the 2004 cycle. Over time, this has added up: According to The Center for Responsive Politics, eight of the top ten all-time political contributors are labor unions.

NEMSA Is different.  Dues money does NOT go to "play politics".  Instead, Members dues money goes back to the members in the form of Superior Representation, Superior Contracts, and Superior Service. On average, 98% of Members Dues Money is returned to members in the form of representation. Not one dime of members dues money is spent on any National politician or political race.  NEMSA will not tell you how to vote, who to support, or what issues to support on a national level.  Your dues money is yours and NEMSA respects that.

How Does NEMSA Have Political Influence Without "Buying" Politicians?

NEMSA has influence using our biggest and best asset:  Our Members.  Our members are parts of the communities they live and work in.  Our members do charity works, volunteer work, and good deeds in the communities they already live in.  NEMSA sponsors and participates in community events, fundraisers, etc..  Influential members of these communities see that.  Local Mayors, Town and City Councils, County Commissioners or Board of Supervisors politicians see and respect that.  NEMSA's influence politically is amplified by our community partners and friends.

A perfect example of this was in the NEMSA 2007 Northeast Contract Dispute when communities stood up for NEMSA workers as they were facing the scary prospect of possibly losing local ambulance service if NEMSA was forced to strike.  AMR offered a 1% pay cut as a last offer and the communities NEMSA members served stood up and demanded AMR change.  Citizens demanded their local politicians do something to help NEMSA members.  Local politicians involved state politicians.  State politicians involved nationally known politicians.  Everybody stood for NEMSA members because NEMSA members were loved by their communities.

"All Politics Is Local" - Former House Speaker Tip O'Neal

"Local Influence Equals Local Results. Lack Of National Influence Equals A Demonstrated Lack Of Local Results " - Peter Brewer, Writer.

NEMSA Members Love The Communities They Serve!  Communities Love NEMSA Members!  It's A Great Thing!
