EMS only union is big hit at 2006 EMS Expo in Las Vegas NEMSA’s booth at the Las Vegas 2006 EMS Expo in September was a big hit with EMS workers.  The Expo had the latest and the greatest EMS equipment, ambulances, and the one EMS-only labor organization in the U.S., NEMSA.
135 New Shop Stewards elected in the NorthEast! NEMSA’s newest members in the NorthEast (Formerly IAEP Local 1) are stepping up and getting it done big in New England.  In less than 45 days since NEMSA became their union, shop steward numbers went from 7 to 135.  The NEMSA difference is really turning out North East members that want to take an active roll in bettering their work lives.

NEMSA puts pressure on EMS Agency.                         Stanislaus County California – NEMSA takes strong position against EMS agency refusing to allow employees representation in agency investigations.

NEMSA Names New V.P.  In keeping with NEMSA’s bylaws, NEMSA’s Board of Directors approved the appointment of Eric Stephens to fill out the remainder of V.P. Tom Nipper’s final year in office.  Mr. Nipper recently stepped down as V.P. and will serve as an uncompensated public relations agent for NEMSA. 

NEMSA Takes AMR San Diego! 

After AMR pulled out all the stops, including a personal campaign visit from EMSC Chairman and CEO Bill Sanger, COO Don Harvey and Labor VP Dave Banelli, AMR was still only able to muster 24 votes against NEMSA.         NEMSA welcomes the newest bargaining unit.

NEMSA members in Shasta took on UHW (Local 250) members from Mercy Medical Center and in typical NEMSA fashion, handedly defeated them at the NEMSA sponsored EMS Week BBQ and Softball game.  "It was lighthearted with allot of fun and laughs and we will no doubt be doing it again next year" said NEMSA EMT Lesley McCoy. "We stopped keeping score after NEMSA was up 17-3, but they were great sports; I never had so much fun getting my butt kicked!" North Hollywood members bring home their new contract with a 95% ratification!

North Hollywood AMR (9-5-07): NEMSA members ratify new 3 year contract.  Among other items gained,  wage increases came in at 20 - 25% over the life of the contract.  "We worked our tails off! Nothing was easy in these negotiations" commented Carlos Osorio, NEMSA Chief Shop Steward.  NEMSA President, Torren Colcord said "AMR is not the same company it was even a year ago, changing a comma is a week long battle with this company. I commend this team for their endurance and in winning a hard fight."

New England Members vote to accept New Contract by a 95% margin!

After a very hard fought and intense contract battle, which included a near strike of over 1,000 EMS workers all over New England,  NEMSA members in Massachusetts, Maine and New Hampshire brought it all home Thursday night when they voted overwhelmingly to approve the new deal which went from a 1% wage cut to a raise of over 14%!

NEMSA SAN DIEGO RATIFIES CONTRACT BY 88%!!
Members of NEMSA's San Diego bargaining unit ended 6 months of tough negotiations with a overwhelming  ratification vote. Highlights of the new agreement include a much needed condensing of the wage scales, with increases from 13-25% over 3 years, a $3,250.00 signing bonus and $ for $ 401K match among other needed improvements.  Click Here to read the ratified Agreement
